Post-2015 Global Governance Consultation

Post-2015 Global Governance Consultation

From February 28th to March 1st the final meeting of the Post-2015 Thematic Consultation on Governance took place in Midrand, South Africa, hosted by the Pan African Parliament and co-chaired by UNDP and UNHCHR. Over 200 government officials, civil society representatives, governance experts and practitioners came together in order to identify key areas and themes of governance, and to explore how governance and accountability can be integrated into the post-2015 development agenda. Local governance and local development were identified as one of eight pre-selected topics that were discussed in roundtables. The DeLoG secretariat was amongst the selected panellists for this session. This presented an excellent opportunity to launch and disseminate the latest DeLoG working paper. The outcomes of the meeting will feed into an overall report, which will be used to engage with the UN-HLP, the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other key processes in preparation for the General Assembly’s Special Event on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in September 2013 and beyond.
