DeLoG Newsletter No. 21

Dear Reader,
We are pleased to welcome you to our latest issue of the DeLoG Newsletter. We report on the DeLoG sessions at the World Urban Forum in Medellin where the Urban Institute presented preliminary results of the DeLoG study on the role of the local public sector in achieving development goals. We further report on two training seminars that were held under the DeLoG/ learn4dev joint learning programme in Vienna and Albania.
In profile we feature David Edelmann, GIZ’s DeLoG focal point who presents the recently published GIZ advisory approach on decentralisation, federalism and local governance.
This issue also includes an analysis on the strengthened role of local governments and decentralisation processes within the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC). During its first high level meeting in Mexico, the GPEDC decided to include a local government representative in the steering committee.
