Where: Bonn, Germany
The Climate Summit of Local and Regional Leaders will be the focal point for local and regional governments at COP23. The Summit is co-hosted by the City of Bonn and the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, with support from the German Federal Government. It is endorsed by the Marrakech Partnership for Global Climate Action, UN agencies and EU institutions. Considerable financial support is also provided by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The Summit is designed to unlock key partnerships, strengthen collaboration between local and regional governments and facilitate direct interaction with national delegates. It will also act as a launch pad for a number of initiatives and partnerships, pushing for swift, effective and integrated climate action at all levels.
Before and after the Summit, the Summit Dialogues will instead shape messages delivered to nations and other climate stakeholders through meetings, events and interactions with negotiators.
Throughout the full two weeks of the COP, do not forget to pass by The Cities & Regions Pavilion, the home base for local and regional governments offering a space for constant exchanges, meetings and partnerships building.
