Mr. Jean-Christophe Charlier is the head of the Governance unit at the Belgian Technical Cooperation (BTC). After being a founding member of the DeLoG network from 2006 to 2008, he has taken over the position as DeLoG´s focal point at BTC again in 2016. He is an economist with over 20 years of experience in managing international development programs and has pursued his professional career in several international organizations ranging from the European Union to several humanitarian and development agencies of the United Nations. Since 2000 he has been working for the Belgian cooperation and after having spent four years in Vietnam with the BTC, he now serves the agency from its headquarters in Brussels.
Given that BTC will be hosting this year´s DeLoG annual meeting from the 16th to the 18th of May in Brussels, Mr. Charlier provides an insight into BTC´s strategic partnership with DeLoG and its expectations towards the annual meeting, as well as into BTC´s strategy and future direction on decentralization and local governance.
