DeLoG Newsletter No. 22

Dear Reader,
Welcome to the summer edition of the DeLoG Newsletter. In this issue, we report from the 9 th DeLoG annual meeting held in Visby, Sweden, hosted by ICLD and SIDA. The meeting took place in a very constructive atmosphere and participants’ feedback was very positive.
Our In-Profile series features Harald Schenker, programme officer for Democratisation, Decentralisation and Local Governance as well as DeLoG’s focal point at the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). SDC is one of the main financial contributors to DeLoG. Its support to strengthen the secretariat and to carry out DeLoG’s learn4dev capacity development programme is absolutely essential for the success of the network.
We will also report on the regional seminar on national M&E systems to measure decentralisation reforms, hosted and organised in Yaoundé by GIZ Cameroon under the patronage of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation. Around 50 Government officials and development partners from seven francophone countries discussed and exchanged their experiences.
We further held the 3rd session of the Global Seminar Series, where Paul Smoke (NY University) presented the DFID study “can decentralisation improve local development outcomes”.
