DeLoG Newsletter No. 15

Dear Reader,
Please receive the winter edition of the DeLoG Newsletter. 2012 was another successful year for DeLoG. We have rolled out the train4dev (learn4dev from 2013) Joint Learning Programme with the contribution of SDC, MAE France, BTC, GIZ, Italian cooperation, The Netherlands and Irish Aid. Three joint learning seminars in Benin, Mozambique and Switzerland where carried out.
We are actively following up on the post Busan process as part of the effective institutions building block. The DeLoG session at Africities has marked the starting point for DeLoG’s active involvement in the post 2015 agenda setting process. We have presented our initiatives to provide evidence based inputs to the agenda setting process and are supporting UCLG in their efforts to ensure local government representation in the upcoming country consultations in February 2013.
In Profile we present Joe Hooper, Leader of the UN-Habitat unit of local government and decentralization who tells us about his engagement as DeLoG member and points out to the growing urbanisation challenges and the need for improved urban governance. Let me finally thank Lea Flaspöhler for the great support she provided to the secretariat during the last 9 month and please welcome Michelle Söller who has joined the team last month.
